About SoundByte
SoundByte is a free audio utility app developed by RJ Digital Solutions. It allows users to convert and process audio and video files — changing formats, adjusting bitrates, trimming clips, and more.
All file processing is performed entirely on your device using WebAssembly (FFmpeg). Your files are never transmitted, uploaded, or sent anywhere.
How Your Files Are Processed
SoundByte uses WebAssembly (Wasm) to run FFmpeg — a well-known open-source multimedia framework — directly inside your browser or device environment. This means:
• All conversion and processing logic runs locally on
your hardware.
• No audio or video data is ever sent to our servers or any third-party
service.
• Processed output files are saved directly to your device.
No Personal Data Collected
SoundByte does not collect, store, or process any personal information. Specifically:
• There is no account system — no sign-up, no login,
no user profile.
• We do not use analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics,
Firebase, Mixpanel).
• We do not track usage behaviour, session data, device
identifiers, or IP addresses.
• We do not use cookies for tracking purposes.
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing to request, correct, or delete. The app works completely without knowing who you are.
No Third-Party Sharing
RJ Digital Solutions does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share any user data with third parties — because we do not hold any user data to begin with.
We have no advertising partners, data brokers, or affiliate data-sharing arrangements connected to SoundByte.
Storage & File Access Permissions
SoundByte will request access to your device's storage. This permission is used solely for the following purposes:
• Read: to open the audio/video files you explicitly
select for processing.
• Write: to save the converted output file to a
location you choose on your device.
The app only accesses files you directly select. It does not scan, index, or access any other files on your device. File access occurs entirely within your device and is never transmitted externally.
Children's Privacy
SoundByte does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). Because the app collects no personal data from any user, there is no elevated risk to younger users.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Continued use of SoundByte after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, where applicable.
Given that SoundByte collects no personal data, the majority of data protection obligations under UK GDPR do not apply in practice. However, we remain committed to transparency and user rights.
